Europe

Outside Flanders, but still within Europe, you can go on an exchange through the European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme. This offers you lots of possibilities such as Erasmus, International Programmes or Erabel. You can follow all or part of a course abroad, have a short study period abroad, or do your work placement abroad.

Erasmus Belgica

Erasmus Belgica is a collaborative project between the Flemish, French and German-speaking Communities. The aim is to promote the mobility of higher education students between Belgium's Communities. This allows students to complete part of their course at a university or university college in another Community. And integrate effectively into the other language and culture.

You can obtain a grant for this. Want to know whether you are eligible for this exchange and the grant? Please refer to the Leuven University College web portal or the 'Internationalisation' info evening in your department.

Erasmus

Erasmus is a programme run by the European Community. The aim is to improve the quality of higher education and strengthen its European dimension. A substantial part of this programme consists of stimulating the mobility of students and teachers.

Erasmus has two components: Erasmus Study and Erasmus Work Placement. The first is a programme that aims to support students who want to study at an institution in another country for a certain period of time. The second supports students who want to go on a work placement abroad.

You can obtain a grant for both Erasmus components. Want to know whether you are eligible for this exchange and the grant? Please refer to the Leuven University College web portal or the 'Internationalisation' info evening in your department.

Double degrees

Leuven University College works closely with a limited number of foreign partners on an ongoing basis. You can complete a large portion of your studies at another institution, thanks to the increasing number of courses. When you graduate, you receive a diploma from Leuven University College and from the foreign institution.

You have a number of options within the Business Studies department. These include the English-language bachelor degree in Business Management - Marketing, which you follow in Denmark, Belgium and the United Kingdom.

Short programmes

There are a number of short programmes available. What's different about these programmes is that they are limited in time and are organised with small groups of students.

There are Intensive Programmes or International Weeks with a duration of five to twelve days. Small groups of lecturers and students from foreign partners work together on a specific topic at Leuven University College or at a partner institution. The International Weeks that take place at Leuven University College are accessible to all students. In 2009, G&T (Health and Technology) and SSH (Department of Social Work, Heverlee) are organising one of these events.
Candidates are frequently selected for programmes held at partner institutions. Ask your departmental Internationalisation co-ordinator what's in the pipeline for your course!

A great example of these short programmes are the business games organised by the international networks NIBS and BUSINESS GAME. Over a period of one to two weeks, we bring together students from economics courses from different parts of the world to work on a case. The organising institutions cover part of the travel expenses.

Via the Trialoog programme, you can take part in a short exchange with students from another Community.
