A School for Everyone

A School for Everyone

In recent years, increasing diversity and learning support have been unmistakable features in all primary and secondary schools in Flanders. The postgraduate certificate 'A School for Everyone' aims to respond to the call for further professionalisation in the face of this educational reform.

Is this programme right for you?

Do you ever wonder how it would be possible to create a school environment where everyone feels welcome? How you can support a team in the face of increasing diversity in schools? How you can offer vulnerable students adequate support? How you can help a diverse group of students to learn together? Then this programme's for you. GON (integrated education) teachers, care co-ordinators, non-academic student supervisors, management boards and teaching staff, as well as supporting therapists and assistants, are all welcome. This also applies to teachers who have just graduated and people with a bachelor degree in orthopedagogics or speech therapy.

What will you learn?

The programme supports the process of incorporating learning support and inclusion into the school team. You also acquire a wealth of ideas for day-to-day practice. We offer you effective strategies for coaching and supporting school teams. You learn to work with different plans for student and class support. You explore a specific student target group that needs support at school. Throughout these activities, you also learn from one another. We work in small groups in an interactive way, with lessons and school-based assignments.

Where can you work?

Learning support is aimed at pre-primary, primary and secondary education.
The postgraduate certificate 'A School for Everyone' prepares you for a variety of supporting tasks at school. On one hand, we support you in an internal or peripatetic care or support role that you already perform (as a GON – integrated education – or ION – inclusive education – teacher, personal assistant to a person with a handicap, care co-ordinator, management board member etc.). On the other hand, you are familiarised with a wide range of support and mentoring issues in schools. This means that, even as a newcomer, you can help develop effective learning support.
