The advanced bachelor in Paediatric Health Care is a specialisation course comprising 60 study points. If you successfully complete all programme elements within a period of five years, you obtain the bachelor diploma in Paediatric Health Care.
Paediatrics is an important pillar of the broad field of health care and welfare. Within our diverse society, the paediatric nurse defends the interests of every child or group of children as well as those who guide and support them.
Do you have a bachelor degree in Nursing or Midwifery? And do you want to specialise in total care for the child, in the acute and chronic sector and in neonatal care? Then this programme's for you!
In the care sector, nurses and midwives are employed in neonatology and paediatrics. This requires special knowledge, expertise and skills. This paediatrics course helps you develop the motivation to provide better total care to the (sick) child and parent.
The programme includes theoretical and practical knowledge. This allows you to recognise and draw attention to any care problems. The modules are designed to align with the child's experience. You learn to provide high-quality professional care to the acutely and chronically ill child in each phase of development and in relation to the environment in which the child is being raised. You learn to give total care on the basis of specific medical, nursing and psychosocial approaches.
Work placements allow you to explore the various spheres of activity. The sciences module provides insight into scientific literature.
You'll find work in all paediatric departments, neonatology departments, intensive and emergency care departments for children, health centres, home care, child psychiatry clinics. The diploma offers added value in every department of the hospital or company in which the child is treated or undergoes therapy.
Want to continue studying? You can study for a master's degree in nursing and midwifery, criminology, management and health care policy etc.
The study programme comprises five basic modules. Within the clinical education module, we organise work placements in different departments during the school year. A work placement in neonatology department or PICU is a requirement for the diploma in Paediatrics.
