Life in Leuven is bustling! It is a great but small student town in the heart of Belgium and all yours to discover. To kick off the semester we organise an Introduction Week in September 2011 (11-16 September) and in February 2012 (5-10 February) just before the start of the Fall and Spring semester. All exchange students are invited to attend our welcome sessions. We provide you with lots of information on Leuven, the university college and your specific programme. Here you will find the provisional programme of the Spring 2012 Introduction Week. Please check back for the latest updates. Your individual departmental course programme will be available upon your arrival. The Spring 2012 Common International Programme is available now!
A room will be reserved for you at the Youth Hostel. To participate in the Introduction Week we kindly ask you to pay a fee of € 180 for the first week’s board and lodging. This deposit also includes student card, sports card, bus pass, Internet access in student room, some extra meal vouchers, other activities and excursions throughout the semester. If you already have found a student room in Leuven and do not require accommodation during the first week, the fee is €100 which includes all the above minus lodging during the introduction week. Registration for the programme is not complete until full payment of the deposit has been made.
Please do not forget to bring a document proving that as a student you have health insurance provided by your home institution or in your home country. You may obtain health insurance coverage through the Leuven University College for a small daily fee. For more information contact the Erasmus Mobility Officer.
During our introductory programmes you will stay at the Youth Hostel in Leuven. Once you are in Leuven, the Student Service of the Leuven University College will assist you to find the place you like best. Please, note that Leuven University College cannot process any individual requests for housing before the Introduction Week. If you plan to arrive before the dates mentioned above, we expect you to take care of accommodation yourself and at your own expenses.
Part of your stay in Leuven University College will take place at one of our campuses. To make your international experience truly interesting we provide a number of Open Courses each Friday, grouped in our Common International Programme. Those courses are accessible for each student. On top of that, we organise excursions to Brussels, Bruges, Antwerp,...
