Life in Leuven is bustling. It is a great but small student town in the heart of Belgium and all yours to discover. To give you a kick-start we offer you the Introduction Week. Both in September 2010 (from 13 September) and in February 2011 (from 7 February) just before the start of the Fall and Spring semester all exchange students are invited to attend our welcome sessions. We provide you with lots of information on Leuven, the university college and your specific programme. You may find here the preliminary programme of the Introduction Week in the fall. Your individual departemental course programme and will be available upon your arrival. A preliminary spring programme is available.
A room will be reserved for you in the Youth Hostel. To subscribe to the Introduction Week we kindly ask you to make a deposit of € 170 for the first week’s board and lodging and some of the excursions included in the programme. If you already have found your own lodging in Leuven and do not require our assistance for lodging during the first days the deposit is € 100. The registration for the programme is not complete until full payment of the deposit.
Please do not forget to bring a document proving that as a student you are insured by your home institution or in your home country regarding health issues. You may obtain a health insurance through the Leuven University College for a small daily contribution. For more information contact the institutional coordinator.
During our introductory programmes you will stay at the Youth Hostel in Leuven. Once you are in Leuven, the Student Service of the Leuven University College will assist you to find the place you like best. Please, note that Leuven University College cannot process any individual requests for housing before the Introduction Week. If you plan to arrive before the dates mentioned above, we expect you to take care of accommodation yourself and at your own expenses.
Part of your stay in Leuven University College will take place at one of our campuses. To make your international experience truly interesting we provide a number of Open Courses each Friday, grouped in our Common International Programme. Those courses are accessible for each student. On top of that, we organise excursions to Brussels, Bruges, Flanders Fields,...
