Have you graduated from the Centrum voor Volwassenenonderwijs (Social School Heverlee) or the VSPW Hasselt (social work)? Then you can obtain the bachelor degree in Social Work via a programme comprising 45 study points.
Within the Social Work bachelor programme, you have the choice of four study options: Social Work and Social Care, Social Work and Legal Aid, Social Work and Human Resources and Social and Cultural Work
Because you should be able to work as well as study, we try to ensure that you only need to attend college one day per week.
The study programme comprises the following elements:
This is a short-track programme of 60 study points that allows you to obtain a bachelor degree in Social Work (= reduction of 120 study points). The programme runs over two semesters (one academic year).
This short-track programme is open to students who have already obtained one of the following diplomas:
No additional exemptions (EVK - prior certificated learning) are granted. Programme elements for which a credit has already been obtained are replaced by another programme element worth at least as many study points.
The programme comprising 60 study points is spread over two semesters. First of all, you choose one of the four study options: Social Work and Social Care, Social Work and Legal Aid, Social Work and Human Resources and Social and Cultural Work.
In the first semester of the 2009-2010 academic year, you study the programme elements from semesters 5 and 6 of your chosen option for 30 study points.
In the second semester, you study professional practice III (work placement) from semesters 5 and 6 and write your dissertation for a total of 30 study points.

In the first semester of the 2009-2010 academic year, you essentially study the programme elements from semesters 5 and 6 of your chosen option for 30 study points. In the second semester, you study a number of programme elements from semesters 3 and 4 (possibly also from 1 and 2) for 30 study points. In the third and final semester of your course (i.e. the first semester of the 2010-2011 academic year), you study professional practice III (work placement) from semesters 5 and 6 and write your dissertation for a total of 30 study points.
You can also start this programme comprising 90 study points in the second semester of the academic year. The advantage of this is that you begin with the programme elements from semesters 1 to 4 (30 study points) and then, in the following academic year, you study the programme from semesters 5 and 6 (60 study points, 30 of which are practical work and dissertation).

The 120 study points correspond to the study programme from semesters 3 & 4 and 5 & 6. We can award extra exemptions (EVK - prior certificated learning) on the basis of the precedent list or further investigation.
If you can contribute 54 to 59 study points in credits from the bachelor degree courses mentioned above, you can also join a programme comprising 120 study points. However, in this case, you must include programme elements from semesters 1 and 2 for a maximum of six and minimum of three study points. These must be programme elements for which you are not contributing any credits (e.g. issues relating to man and society, methods of social work, social work and social policy, and social scientific research).
