You're interested in applied natural sciences, and everything that has to do with nutrition. You're good with your hands and know how to set about your work in a creative, practical way. You clearly prefer to teach in vocational and technical education, more specifically in courses where 'looking after' is a key element. Perhaps the course in teaching Nutrition and Care is for you.
This course includes both social and technical/scientific education. Concrete subjects include taking care of mental & physical health, nutrition, social and living environment, clothing and textiles. But you can only master the subject of Nutrition and Care through frequent contact with people who work in the field. Visits to – and work placements in – care institutions, industrial kitchens, food companies and maintenance services, for example, make this possible.
The subject Nutrition and Care gives you the authorisation to teach not just in the first and second cycles, but also in the third cycle of BSO (Vocational Secondary Education) and TSO (Technical Secondary Education). You can also work outside education, more specifically in institutions such as hospitals, industrial kitchens, homes for the elderly, psychotherapeutic services and holiday parks. You will be responsible for the organisation of food provision, purchasing, maintenance, entertainment and home therapy.
One year equals semester 1 plus semester 2 for a total of 60 ECTS credits. The Educational and Examination Regulations provide you with more information on the split between semesters.
