History

History teacher

During your training as a history teacher, you gain insight into the various ages of history. You learn to work with the atlas and timeline. And you develop a critical attitude towards each written and oral source. You have an interest in current events and cultural heritage. And an open and respectful attitude towards other cultures.

In the theory lessons, we constantly use teaching material: DVD, CD-ROM, video, pictures, maps, graphics, timeline etc. You give practice lessons in order to master the practical aspect. After this training, you can teach in secondary education up to and including the fourth year of General Secondary Education (ASO) and Technical Secondary Education (TSO) and up to the seventh year of Vocational Secondary Education (BSO). You can also teach in adult education, VDAB courses or evening classes. Or you can work in the educational service of a museum, bank, city, TV station or institution, for example. Another option is the cultural sector.

One year equals semester 1 plus semester 2 for a total of 60 ECTS credits. The Educational and Examination Regulations provide you with more information on the split between semesters.
