As a primary teacher you are a vital part of the growth process of young children. You teach them to read and write, you stimulate their creativity and independence. You allow them to discover the world.
Do you enjoy interacting with children in an absorbing, creative and stimulating way? Do you naturally show respect for others and for those who think differently? Do you have an open view of the world in the broadest sense of the word? Are you a team player? Do you like variety? And do you enjoy working on different tasks and assignments? Then the Primary Education bachelor degree is for you.
The course is very experience-oriented. From the start, you test out your professional expertise in practice. First, you observe and participate. Then you take your first steps as a teacher. In the second year, you concentrate on honing your teaching skills. In the third year, you develop your profile as a teacher with the different option paths. You are also involved as a full partner in the development of education in our schools. Does the idea of going abroad appeal to you? You can study and go on work placements throughout Europe.
You have the necessary expertise to start working in primary education as a class teacher, for a group of children aged between 6 and 12. Or as a member of the support team: care co-ordinator, language instructor, librarian, religious education or P.E. teacher etc.
With the Primary Education bachelor degree, you can also work as an education assistant in socio-cultural organisations or museums. Or for the Jeugddienst (youth service) of a city, town or municipality, and in the service sector.
An advanced bachelor gives you the chance to become an expert in Special Needs Education. You can obtain the Pre-primary Education or Secondary Education bachelor degree, or even the Social Work bachelor degree, via a short-track programme. You are also eligible for a number of postgraduate certificates: A School for Everyone, Mentor of Introductory Coaching and Work Placement Coaching, Process-Oriented Leadership or Agogic Theological Work.
With your internationally recognised diploma, you can also move on to a master's course in Belgium or abroad.
