Accommodation

Leuven is a small but lively city with a population of about 35.000 students. Student life of fully integrated into the local community. About 80% of the students are accommodated in privately rented student houses. The private housing market offers a wide range of rental units of varying types, price levels and locations. Because of this variety, all international guest are strongly advised to view some properties and negotiate with the landlord in person before signing a contract. For this reason, it is not possible to make a reservation in advance or to arrange permanent accommodation from abroad.

The supply of accommodation in halls of residence is very limited in Leuven and therefore, it is subject to specific conditions.

Housing Office

Do you want information and advice on renting a student room, or on mediation in the event of rental disputes? Student Services can refer you to the Housing Office.

Housing for exchange students

Upon your arrival in Leuven you stay the first week in the Youth Hostel. Student Services and the international office of the KHLeuven assist you in finding a suitable room. 

Financial support

The Social Service provides advice on financing your studies, scholarships, child allowance, health insurance, maintenance payments, tax, student marriages, student charter, relationship problems etc.

Are you experiencing financial difficulties? Then you can apply through the Social Service for a financial contribution from vzw Studentenservice KHLeuven (allowance, loan, advance on scholarship). In exceptional circumstances, a loan may be allowed to foreign students.

Student employment

You can browse a substantial range of student jobs – after registering – via the Internet. The job service will also help you if you have problems with your student job, the contract, your employer or anything else.

Student Services helps

As a student, you benefit from excellent psychotherapeutic support. Student Services guarantees high-quality individual support, group sessions, psychotherapeutic support etc. You can also contact these services if you encounter study obstacles such as a fear of failure, learning difficulties or dyslexia.
