How to get there
By car
By public transport 

By car
via Haasrode (E40)
If you're travelling:

  • via the E314, take the E40 towards Luik
  • from Brussels, take the E40 towards Luik
  • from Luik, take the E40 towards Leuven

Then take:

  • Exit 23 towards Korbeek-Lo, Bierbeek, Haasrode. At the end of the exit, turn left (4 lanes).
  • At the next set of traffic lights, turn left (get in the correct lane!). This is Geldenaaksebaan, which you then stay on. 150 metres after the next set of traffic lights and just before the railway bridge, turn right onto the paved road.
  • Drive to the end of this road and you can park in the square behind the first gate.
  • On foot under the second gate until you reach the top, door on the right of the gate.

via Ruelensvest
If you're travelling via the E314:

  • Take exit 15 – Leuven.
  • Keep following Koning Boudewijnlaan (N 264) until you reach the viaduct.
  • Turn right onto the Tervuursevest (ring road around Leuven) next to the viaduct.
  • Drive past the Delhaize store and at the lights (Naamsepoort) go straight on, onto Ruelensvest.
  • Continue until the next set of traffic lights (Parkpoort – Philips site).
  • Turn right (Geldenaaksebaan).
  • Immediately after the railway bridge, turn left onto the paved road.
  • Continue as above

By public transport
by train and bus
Take a look at www.b-rail.be for more info about trains to Leuven.
Buses 4, 5 & 6 go along the approach to the abbey. When travelling from the centre, once you have crossed the ring road at the Philips site, you need the stop immediately before the railway bridge. Then continue on foot under the bridge, walk left along the paved road until you reach the end, and then go through the door on the right. You can find the timetable for buses 4, 5 and 6 on www.delijn.be. Every quarter of an hour there is a bus from the centre of Leuven.
